No doubt, when Freddie Mercury and Queen performed, “Somebody To Love,” to thousands of screaming rock fans back in the 1970’s they probably never imagined that a Charlotte NC Christian rock band at New Charlotte Church would connect those lyrics and that song to the hope of the Lord. With many new worship and praise bands in Charlotte such as 19 Lions releasing new Contemporary Christian worship songs, worship leader J Nicholson led his worship team along with Romell Dash and his mini-choir in a very special version of the Queen hit. One member of the congregation said after the service, “I wanted to rush the stage it was so good.”  Another stated, “The song really made me think about the message and how even some of the most successful rich and famous people are screaming out for love.  The love of Christ is there for everyone and is reaching out for us. Despite this video being shot on an IPhone it illustrates how church and worship can take a secular rock song and make us all realize how much we need the love of Jesus.

“Somebody To Love”

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Each morning I get up I die a little, Can barely stand on my feet

(take a look at yourself)
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord what you’re doing to me
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can’t get no relief,
Lord!
Somebody, somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I work (he works hard) hard every day of my life
I work ’til I ache my bones
At the end (at the end of the day) I take home my hard earned pay all on my own –
I get down on my knees
And I start to pray (praise the Lord)
‘Til the tears run down from my eyes
Lord – somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me – somebody to love?

(He works hard)

Everyday
I try and I try and I try
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I’m goin’ crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
I got no common sense
I got nobody left to believe
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh Lord
Somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat
I’m OK, I’m alright
I ain’t gonna face no defeat
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
Someday I’m gonna be free, Lord!

Find me somebody to love
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
